We are a dealer of Recording King
Banjos and Guitars
Those
of you who know me, know that I have always championed the cause of the
blue collar musician, by offering necks in various stages of
completion, conversions of older tenor banjos and the like, but I have
never offered anything NOT made in the USA. The reason we never offered
imported instruments is simple. They were always of dubious quality,
and while inexpensive, were just not a good value in the long run,
having poor resale value, and were all built beneath the standards of
an instrument that I would play myself. If I wouldn't play it
myself....I wouldn't sell it to you.
Enter Recording King(TM) and The Loar(TM) Instruments. We are
among the newest dealers of these lines of instruments, designed by
Greg Rich, who most in the banjo community will recognize as the guy
who put the supply chain in place that made Gibson banjos desirable
once again following the Norlin Era. He did it by sticking to high
standards, and basically throwing out everything they were doing, and
starting from scratch to recreate the great banjos of the 30s.
The Music Link, the parent Company of Recording King(TM) and The
Loar(TM) Instruments, hired Greg Rich about a year ago, to help them to
bring quality instruments to the masses at affordable prices. What has
transpired since will be viewed as history. Scott Zimmerman oversaw
plant development and was instrumental in teaching the employees how to
build an American banjo.
We are proud to represent these instruments, which we feel offer great
value for the musician, regardless of skill level. I still take a
tremendous amount of pride in my domestically produced product, but the
price of American Craftsmanship is just out of reach for some.
